In the processing of CNC lathes, rolling processing is used to improve the surface hardness, fatigue strength, and durability of the workpiece, reduce the surface roughness of the workpiece, and extend the service life of the workpiece. At the same time, it is also possible to use the plastic deformation of the metal under external forces during the rolling process, which changes the internal stress, to straighten shaft and rod workpieces with good rigidity.
During the rolling process of the workpiece, bending occurs due to uneven surface layer hardness under the action of external forces. At a high position in the center of rotation of the bending, the rolling pressure it bears is greater, and the plastic deformation it produces is also greater, which increases the degree of bending of the workpiece. This phenomenon is more prominent when using rigid rolling tools.
The method of rolling and straightening a CNC lathe is to check the radial runout of the workpiece after the first rolling, mark the concave part, use a four jaw chuck to adjust the concave part of the workpiece to the height of the machine tool's rotation center, which is proportional to the size of the workpiece's bending. Then, use a dial gauge and adjust the claw of the four jaw chuck to correct the workpiece. Use a dial gauge to check the bending condition. If it is still bent, use the above method to adjust the workpiece and perform a third rolling until the required straightness of the workpiece is achieved. The length of the knife to be cut after the second pass should be determined according to the specific situation, and it is not necessary to complete the cut, and reverse cutting should be used.
By using rolling straightening, CNC lathes are generally completed during the rolling process of the workpiece, which not only does not damage the surface of the workpiece, but also causes the outer surface of the workpiece to be evenly rolled, without generating dead bends, and is easy to operate.
